The Urology Center of Colorado (TUCC), the only fully comprehensive urology center in the Rocky Mountain region, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). TUCC is the only urology practice in Colorado to be awarded an accreditation for ultrasound and one of only two practices to be awarded the CT accreditation.
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
Located just north of Invesco Field in Denver, TUCC consists of 18 physicians and more than 130 employees. TUCC provides comprehensive clinical services, ambulatory surgery, clinical lab and anatomical pathology, clinical research, imaging services, lithotripsy, minimally invasive treatments for prostate disease, radiation oncology treatment of urologic cancers, urodynamics and vasectomy and vasectomy reversals in its 60,000 square-foot facility. All TUCC physicians are board certified or eligible by the American Board of Urology or American Board of Radiology.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
