This week, The Urology Center of Colorado (TUCC) will celebrate its first anniversary as the only fully inclusive urology center in the Rocky Mountain region.
Located just north of Invesco Field, TUCC features a state-of-the-art urology clinic, including radiology, laboratory and pathology services, a comprehensive cancer treatment center, clinical research department and ambulatory surgery center, the Urology Surgery Center of Colorado. The TUCC cancer treatment center provides radiation oncology treatment, including brachytherapy, external beam radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), for all urologic cancers. TUCC is a three-story, 60,000 square-foot facility designed to treat all urologic conditions.
Formed as a partnership with HCA-HealthONE, the Urology Surgery Center of Colorado is the only outpatient surgery center solely devoted to urologic procedures in the front range area. Procedures such as shockwave and laser lithotripsy, bladder tumor resection, ureteroscopy, prostatectomy, circumcision and endoscopic and minimally invasive treatment of urologic cancers are performed in the surgery center.
“TUCC was designed to treat all urologic conditions at one location in order to eliminate delays in patient care,” said Richard Augspurger, M.D, TUCC medical director. “During the past year, we’ve been able to provide treatment for more than 18,000 patients in a facility that utilizes the latest advancements in urologic care.”
TUCC was formed following the merger of Colorado Urology Associates and Western Urologic Associates. The center is currently staffed by 15 physicians and more than 115 employees. TUCC is also one of only a few urology practices in the country to have a double board certified radiation oncologist/urologist on staff. All of the TUCC physicians are board certified or eligible by the American Board of Urology.
