2018 Shave Off For Prostate Cancer – Helping Men Get Shaved and Raise Awareness

-It’s The Last Shave Of The Month-

TUCC Foundation partnered with Swedish Medical Center for the 2018 Shave Off For Prostate Cancer on November 2, 2018. Men around the world participate in “No Shave November” and “Movember”, by starting off men’s health month clean shaven in support of men’s health (prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention).

“TUCC Foundation was founded in 2008 to support men’s urologic health not only around the Rocky Mountain Region, but the research benefits healthcare across the nation,” says Martha Ruschival, RN, BSN, Executive Director of TUCC Foundation. “The donations raised through TUCC Foundation go directly to prostate cancer research which benefits all men around the world.”

Dr. Mark Jones, Urologist Partner at TUCC and da Vinci® Robotic Surgeon, stopped by after a case to support the shave off, “we are excited to see such a great turnout for this event. One in nine men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and raising awareness for testing and donations for research is a focus of TUCC and the foundation.” Dr. Julien Dagenais, also a Urologist and robotic surgeon at TUCC stopped by to take some pictures with the robotic support staff and support the event.

Dr. Benjamin Carpenter, Urologist and robotic surgeon from TUCC, took his participation a bit farther; he started the shave off with a full beard, and bravely “shaved-off” the beard in support of the event and men’s health month. “I think this is a great idea, it brings men together, raises awareness, and shows community support for important men’s health issues,” states Dr. Carpenter.

More than $600 was raised at the event, and the foundation won’t stop there. TUCC Foundation will hold a drawing at the end of the month for two signed Nugget’s jerseys (Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic – donated by Altitude Sports Radio). Anyone that donates $10 or more during the month will be entered into the drawing.
