The Urology Center of Colorado Partners With UroGPO For SpaceOAR HydroGel Training

The Urology Center of Colorado (TUCC) hosted surgical training for Urologists and Radiation Oncologists from California, Oregon and Texas for SpaceOAR Hydrogel. The training was offered by UroGPO, Augmenix and The Urology Center of Colorado.

The Urologists at TUCC have been utilizing SpaceOAR Hydrogel at the center for two years and participated in clinical research to evaluate the efficacy in reducing radiation exposure to the rectum during treatment for prostate cancer.

“With the use of SpaceOAR Hydrogel, patients experienced clinically significant improvement in both bowel and urinary qualify of life,” says Dr. Juan Montoya, President of the Urology Center of Colorado. “They also reported less severe long-term rectal complications.”

Two of the physicians at TUCC with significant experience in SpaceOAR use, Juan Montoya, MD and Eric Gross, MD, lead the training program on June 7, 2018. In partnership with UroGPO and Augmenix, TUCC physicians provided a clinical presentation, dry lab, and three live surgical cases.

“It’s a privilege to welcome Urologists and Radiation Oncologists from around the country to The Urology Center of Colorado and share our experience and knowledge from the clinical trials and improved patient outcomes from SpaceOAR,” states Dr. Montoya. “We all share a passion for providing the best care for our patients, and staying at the forefront of medical innovations helps us focus on that mission.”

Additional surgical training programs are planned for later in the year.
