The Urology Center of Colorado Foundation to Host Free Men's Health Screening
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men, with more than 186,320 new cases expected to be diagnosed in 2008. In Colorado, approximately 3,210 cases of the disease will be diagnosed this year.
In an effort to improve the overall health and well-being of the local community, The Urology Center of Colorado (TUCC) Foundation will host a FREE men’s health screening as part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month on Saturday, September 20. This screening is sponsored by Colorado Business Bank and Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
TUCC Foundation’s men’s health screening will include the following:
- Prostate Cancer Screening
Men over 50 years of age
Men over 40 years of age with a positive family history or who are African-American
- Testicular cancer screening
Men 15 -35 years of age
Men with a history of smoking and/or exposure to chemicals
- Erectile dysfunction screening
- Smoke cessation information
Smoking is the second leading cause of bladder cancer
Required to fast 12 hours prior to screening
- Blood pressure check
- BMI and fitness evaluation
- Testosterone levels
- Osteoporosis screening
Men over 70
Smokers
Men with a history of fractures
- Diabetes screening
- Colon cancer screening
- Vitamin D
- Nutrition
- Depression
