The Urology Center of Colorado Foundation Partners with the American Urological Association Foundation to Host Free Prostate Cancer Screening for Former NFL Players
WHAT:
Former NFL players living in the Denver metro area will participate in a prostate cancer screening provided by the NFL Player Care Foundation and the American Urological Association (AUA) Foundation at Invesco Field. Staffed by clinical volunteers from The Urology Center of Colorado (TUCC) Foundation, this screening will give many former stars of the gridiron an opportunity to know their stats in the fight against prostate cancer. The screening is not open to the public.
One American man is diagnosed with prostate cancer every 2.7 minutes. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Colorado today, but the disease is very curable when detected at an early stage. Prostate cancer screenings include a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test and Digital Rectal Exam (DRE). It is recommended that all men begin annual PSA and DRE exams at age 40, working with their doctors to establish a baseline and plan for regular screenings thereafter. African American men and men with a positive family history of prostate cancer should talk with their physicians about being screened at a younger age.
