Brett Abernathy, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Prior to the merger that formed TUCC, Brett Abernathy, M.D., practiced with Western Urologic Associates. He is a former clinical staff member at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where he was twice selected as an outstanding faculty member. Dr. Abernathy has served as Chief of Surgery at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center as well as President of the Rocky Mountain Urologic Society. He is a current member of the Rocky Mountain Urologic Society, Denver Medical Society, Colorado Medical Society and is an American College of Surgeons fellow.

Dr. Abernathy received a Bachelor of Arts degree, with distinction, in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado. He then went on to receive his medical doctorate from Northwestern University and completed his residency in urology at Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Abernathy is board certified by the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Abernathy is proficient in Spanish. He enjoys time with his wife and two children as well as playing tennis, skiing, cycling and running an occasional triathlon.

Stone disease

  • Endoscopic, open and extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL)

Genitourinary cancer

  • Diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract malignancy (cancer) and male genitalia

Prostate disease

  • Evaluation and treatment of benign and malignant (cancerous) prostate disease
